Economic Growth of Sumatera Selatan Fourth Quarter 2019

Abstract

The economy of South Sumatra Province based on the amount of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) based on current prices in 2019 reached Rp 455.23 trillion and at the base of constant prices in 2010 reached Rp 315.62 trillion.

 

The economy of South Sumatra Province in 2019 grew 5.71 percent (c-to-c). From the production side, growth was driven by all business fields, with the highest growth being achieved by the Business of Providing Accommodations and Food and Drink which grew 15.35 percent. In terms of expenditure, the highest growth was achieved by the Non-Profit Institution Consumption Expenditure Component serving Households (LNPRT), which grew by 9.78 percent.

 

The economy of South Sumatra Province in the fourth quarter of 2019 against the fourth quarter of 2018 (y-o-y) grew 5.69 percent. From the production side, the highest growth was achieved by the Electricity and Gas Procurement Business Field at 14.05 percent. Meanwhile, in terms of expenditure, it was mainly driven by the Government Consumption Expenditure Component which grew by 20.06 percent.

 

The economy of South Sumatra Province in the fourth quarter of 2019 when compared to the previous quarter (q-to-q) experienced a contraction of 2.89 percent. From the production side, this is caused by seasonal effects on the Agricultural, Forestry and Fisheries Business Fields which experienced a contraction of 18.91 percent. While from the expenditure side, it was caused by the Foreign Export Component which contracted by 4.94 percent.
