Abstract

Human development in  Sumatera Selatan Province continues to progress marked by the continued increase in the Human Development Index (HDI) of Sumatera Selatan Province. In 2016, Indonesia's HDI has reached 68.24. This figure increased by 0.78 points compared with Sumatera Selatan Province's HDI in 2015 which amounted to 67.46.

In 2016, the status of human development in Indonesia still "moderate". Although Sumatera Selatan Province's HDI in 2016 grew by 0.78 percent compared to 2015.

During the period from 2015 to 2016, HDI-forming components also increased. Newborns have a chance to live up to 69 years. Children 7 years of age have the opportunity to go to school for 12 years. Meanwhile, the population aged 25 years and above the average has been studying for 8 years. Expenditure per capita (constant 2012 prices) community has reached USD 9.94 million in 2016, an increase of Rp 461 thousand rupiah compared to the previous year.
